Biblical Foundation: 'One Anothering'

1. Love One Another (1 John 4:7-16)

1 John 4:7       “Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God, everyone who loves is born                                                     of God and knows God.”

2. Pray for One Another (James 5:13-18)

James 5: 16  “Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be                              healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.”

3. Encourage One Another (Hebrews 10:19-25)

Hebrews 10:24-25   “And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not                                                     neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another,                                           and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

4. Care for One Another (1 Corinthians 12:22-27)

1 Corinthians 12:24b-25    “But God has so arranged the body, giving the greater honor to the                                                                         inferior member, that there may be no dissension within the body, but the                                                           members may have the same care for one another.”

5. Serve One Another (1 Peter 4:8-11)

1 Peter 4:10   “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift                                    each of you has received.”

6. Bear with One Another in Love (Ephesians 4:1-6)

Ephesians 4:1-3    “I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to                                              which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing                                          with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the                                      bond of peace.”

7. Forgive One Another (Ephesians 4:29-32)

Ephesians 4:32     “…be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has                                       forgiven you.”

We also affirm the following elements are essential in the lives of “One Anothering” Christians.

8. Stewardship-Realization that all gifts come from God and we are just stewards of those gifts whether they be our time, money, land or other possessions.

(Genesis 1:26-31, Psalm 24:1-2, Romans 14:7-9)

Genesis 1:26         “Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness;                                                and let them have dominion…”

Romans 14:8        “…whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s”

9. Sound understanding of God’s Word (Ephesians 5:6-14, Hebrews 4:12-13)

Ephesians 5:6      “Let no one deceive you with empty words...”

10. Attentiveness to God (Matthew 6:5-13, Luke 5:15-16)

Matthew 6:6        “But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father                                      who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

Luke 5:16             “But he (Jesus) would withdraw to deserted places and pray.”
